What's in it
Two sheets, nothing else
“Expenses” to write in, “Summary” to read. Nothing to build or configure.
Category dropdowns
Food, Groceries, Transport, Utilities, Subscriptions and Other. You pick from a list instead of typing, so the summary doesn't break because you wrote “food” one day and “Food” the next.
Payment method
Cash, card, Yape, Plin or transfer. It's the column that ends up explaining where the money went that never showed on your statement.
Automatic summary
Total per category, how much each one weighs on the month, and the overall total. The formulas are already in place.
400 rows, already formatted
Currency format, real dates and filters from the first row. Enough for well over a year.
How to use it
- 1Download it and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
- 2Delete the eight example rows and start writing your own.
- 3Check the “Summary” sheet at the end of the month. The formulas are the one thing worth leaving alone.
Now the honest part
Your spreadsheet will last three weeks.
That is not your fault, and not the template's. Recording the expense costs more than making it: you pay S/ 8.50 at the corner shop in four seconds, then you have to open the sheet, remember the amount, find the row and pick the category. Nobody keeps that up thirty times a month.
And the ones you stop recording first are not the big ones. They are the small ones — the lunch, the moto-taxi, the coffee. On their own they look like nothing; together they are your phone bill.
